A bit about me and boxing

I have been involved in and around boxing for 27 years. I’ve competed in the welterweight division, light middleweight, middleweight, and finally, light heavyweight.

I first started up my local boxing club, Eastleigh Boys Club ABC, back in 1994, aged 14. Then, at age 21, I left Eastleigh Boys to join The Golden Ring ABC, the south coasts most successful boxing club. Whilst there, and under the expert tutelage and guidance of Stuart Gill, I won a Hampshire title and southern counties Championship in 2002.

Boxing Coach since 2006

I started coaching full time in 2006, doing ‘one to one’ sessions and classes. I also coached voluntarily at the Golden Ring for several years as an AIBA accredited coach, holding both the Level 1 and level 2 coaches qualifications.

In 2011, I opened a new ABA affiliated boxing club in Southampton, Samsons ABC, where I undertook the head coach role. I held this position for some years before passing the principal coach position to Matt Broad, as I was running a number of other businesses and had to prioritise them.

Even though I was pretty busy running several companies, I couldn’t stay away from boxing for long; in 2014, I started white-collar training sessions at the Golden ring and put on many successful shows.

Offering 'one to one' and 'small group' sessions

With over 27 years in boxing, having that valuable experience of competing at championship level, winning regional tournaments, training alongside world champions, Coaching at one of the countries top boxing clubs before starting my own, I’d like to think I have acquired a fair amount of knowledge.

I don’t go through the motions when I teach boxing; I put my all into every session to ensure that my clients improve as much as possible with each and every lesson. I am fastidious about good technique. If you train with me, you will learn to box properly, develop excellent technique, and become the best you are capable of being.
